SUMMARY:Tropical Coral Symbioses: Deep Thoughts From Shallow Waters
DESCRIPTION:Sound Vision Webinar | Free (donations welcome)\nRegister HERE\n\n*This talk will be featured both in-person and online. RSVP is required for the in-person program. Please call 843.645.7774 to register.\n\nSymbioses are the ways in which two different organisms mutually benefit each other. This kind of beneficial relationship is abundant on tropical coral reefs\, and the relationship between coral (an animal) and dinoflagellates (single-celled plants or algae) is particularly notable. The symbioses between these organisms are what make coral reefs so dynamic and important—providing homes\, food\, and spawning grounds for over 25% of the ocean’s species. This webinar will provide an overview of these valuable symbioses\, including their diversity\, distribution and inner workings. Presented by Dr. Tye Pettay – Associate Professor – Biological Oceanography Dept. of Natural Sciences at USCB.\nAll ages welcome\n*You will receive a link to the webinar upon registration. This link will be unique to your IP address and cannot be shared.
