The symbioses between these organisms are what make coral reefs so dynamic and important—providing homes\, food\, and spawning grounds for over 25% of the ocean’s species. DESCRIPTION:“Like Summer Camp for adults!” \nLearn everything you need to know about the Lowcountry! Adult Pluff Mudder Camp is a naturalist – led program geared towards adults that are interested in gaining a more in-depth knowledge of the Port Royal Sound’s natural resources. This four-day program will teach you about the land\, water\, and animals of the Port Royal Sound.\nAges 18+ only.\n$250/person – includes all necessary materials and an official PRSF Pluff Mudder hat! \nTuesday\, November 15th\nLocation: Sharon & Dick Stewart Maritime Center – 310 Okatie Highway\, Okatie\, SC 29909\nTime: 10am-2pm\nDay one will cover the ins and outs of what makes the Port Royal Sound a unique place along the east coast. We will tour the Maritime Center\, meet some animals\, and go on a 1.5-mile nature hike. \nWhat to Bring: lunch\, shoes and clothes that can get wet and muddy\, close-toed shoes\, a change of clothes\, rain jacket\, hat\, sunglass\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, camera\, notebook\, pen\, water bottle\, and binoculars (we have extra to share!) \nTuesday\, November 22nd\nLocation: Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks – 1 Hudson Rd\, Hilton Head Island\, SC 29926\nTime: 10am-2pm\nOn our second day we will make a trip to Hilton Head Island and visit Hudson’s Seafood to hear owner Andrew Carmines speak about the local seafood industry. Lunch at Hudson’s will follow. (Cost of lunch not included with registration fee.) If time allows\, we would love to visit Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge for a walk around it’s rookery. \nWhat to Bring: snacks\, close-toed shoes\, rain jacket\, hat\, sunglass\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, camera\, notebook\, pen\, water bottle\, and binoculars (we have extra to share!) \n Wednesday\, November 30th\nLocation: Sharon & Dick Stewart Maritime Center – 310 Okatie Highway\, Okatie\, SC 29909\nTime: 10am-2pm\nDay three will be back at the Maritime Center fishing off the docks for finfish and shellfish\, investigate the animals that live on our docks using microscopes\, and test the water quality of the Port Royal Sound. \nWhat to Bring: lunch\, close-toed shoes\, a change of clothes\, rain\, jacket\, hat\, sunglass\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, camera\, notebook\, pen\, and a water bottle \n Wednesday\, December 7th\nLocation: Hunting Island State Park – Russ Point Boat Landing\nTime: 10am-3:30pm\nWe will finish “camp” with a field trip to St. Phillips Island upon a boat departing Hunting Island State Park. St. Phillips Island\, previously owned by Ted Turner\, is a nature lover’s paradise\, providing critical habitat for alligators\, sea turtles\, bobcats\, and birds. This ecotour will also include time for beach combing\, hiking\, or relaxing on the beach. \nWhat to Bring: snacks\, close-toed shoes\, rain jacket\, hat\, sunglass\, sunscreen\, bug spray\, camera\, notebook\, pen\, water bottle\, and binoculars (we have extra to share!)
