Junior Service League of Beaufort Supports Pluff Mudder Summer Camp

The Port Royal Sound Foundation recently wrapped up another fun-filled summer camp season. PRSF hosts six weeks of summer camp– three weeks designed for rising 2nd-4th graders and three weeks designed for 5th-7th graders. These camps are an opportunity for kids to get outside, connect to our local environment, and learn about conservation through exciting, hands-on lessons. Campers participate in activities including nature hikes, animal programs, art projects, fishing, dissections*, kayaking*, and so much more (*only older campers). Support from a grant awarded by the Junior Service League of Beaufort allowed PRSF to reach new campers this year.
“Summer camp is truly one of the best times of year at PRSF, in my opinion. It is so rewarding to see so many kids enthusiastic about getting their hands dirty and their feet wet (literally) to learn about the Port Royal Sound. Campers leave Pluff Mudder Camp with a deeper appreciation for our unique environment, as well as memories that will last a lifetime.
We see a lot of campers come back year after year, which is awesome to know they enjoy their time enough to return. We also work really hard to reach and include new campers, so that every kid around the Port Royal Sound can have this experience and connect to nature. Support from the Junior Service League of Beaufort allowed us to do just that, and I’m really grateful for the new campers we got to reach because of them.”
