On October 18, 2025, the Port Royal Sound Foundation (PRSF) hosted its 11th annual Night on the Sound in the Weezie Educational Pavilion. The event highlighted PRSF’s expansive education and research initiatives, and how they support its mission to conserve the Port Royal Sound for the environmental, cultural, and economic well-being of our area. It was also an opportunity to showcase recent conservation efforts throughout the Port Royal Sound watershed. More than anything, though, the event was a celebration of the community who makes it all possible—from local farmers to an array of environmental organizations to the attendees themselves.
After a cocktail hour on the waterfront patio, guests filled their plates with local fare coordinated by SERG Restaurant Group and provided by Tuten Farms, Lady’s Island Oysters, and Peculiar Pig Farm, then settled in for a night of conservation success stories and a clear-eyed look to the future of our local environment. Partners from Open Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy shared about recent wins at Chelsea Property and beyond, with PRSF staff and Board members underscoring this work through a growing effort to compile reliable data about the Port Royal Sound that will inform future conservation decisions. The night culminated in recognition of Dan and Marty Boone for their longtime commitment to local conservation initiatives and dedicated service to their community.
With a room full of supporters and guests from PRSF’s partner organizations—including Coastal Conservation League, Keep Chelsea Rural, Lowcountry Sentinel Landscape, Open Land Trust, Spring Island Trust, The Nature Conservancy, and the University of South Carolina Beaufort—Night on the Sound embraces the idea that conservation is a community effort. Success comes from a deeply intertwined network of partners and a population of environmental stewards, and PRSF is proud to be at the heart of this collaboration.
