PRSF Awarded 2% ATAX Funding

The Port Royal Sound Foundation (PRSF) received $52,380 of funding from a Beaufort County 2% Accommodations Tax grant to be used for a family field trip marketing campaign and fleet of kayaks. As PRSF has grown, the Maritime Center has become a welcome center for the Port Royal Sound area. Tourists visit to learn about the ecology, history, art, culture, and recreation of the Port Royal Sound area; spend time on our beautiful waters; and continue to explore everything Beaufort County has to offer. Offering a kayak tour program from the Maritime Center is a natural fit, and this funding will provide people the opportunity to get out on the water and better understand the crucial resource that is the Port Royal Sound.

“We are so grateful for this partnership with Beaufort County that allows us to reach more people across the state and country. The Port Royal Sound is what draws millions of people to our community, and it is crucial that they understand how important the Sound is to our unique Lowcountry environment and culture. These funds help us reach new visitors, connect them to the Sound, and continue promoting the vitality and resilience of this critical resource for years to come.”
