On August 30, 2022 Port Royal Sound Foundation (PRSF) was awarded a Sustainability Grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. South Arts’ mission is to advance Southern vitality through the arts, which aligns with PRSF’s mission to preserve the Port Royal Sound for the environmental, cultural, and economic well-being of our area. Art is one of the five primary focus areas of PRSF’s work, along with ecology, culture, history, and recreation. We are looking forward to the completion of the Weezie Educational Pavilion in early 2023, which will increase our capacity to host larger art shows, marketplaces, classes, and more.
“Art is a huge part of how we reach people and involve the community in our work. It’s a way to connect with visitors of all ages, whether they’re participating in an ocean-inspired craft activity, enjoying the art we have on display in our rotating room or during the Recycled Art contest, or simply being inspired by the beauty of the Port Royal Sound. I’m really glad we have the support of arts organizations like South Arts to helps us expand and enhance this aspect of our outreach.” -Kat Armstrong, Naturalist and Special Project Coordinator
PRSF arts programs in 2022 were funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. PRSF is grateful for this support, which helps us promote the importance of art in our community and share the value of protecting the Sound.
