During a reception on March 29, 2022, the Port Royal Sound Foundation unveiled the newly named Dr. Chris Marsh Educational Campus.
Since before the Port Royal Sound Foundation opened its doors in 2014, Dr. Chris Marsh has played an integral role in supporting the Foundation’s work in both education and research. As a founding member, Dr. Marsh helped shape the Foundation’s mission and vision, as well as open the doors of the Maritime Center museum & aquarium. Since then, the Foundation has seen significant growth in reaching more people, expanding educational programming, and preserving the Sound. This growth would not have been possible without the support and passion of Dr. Marsh.
“Chris has been part of the PRSF family since the beginning, we are proud to honor him for all he has done for us and the Port Royal Sound community”
Executive Director, Jody Hayward
While working as the Executive Director for the Spring Island Trust, Dr. Marsh championed a strong partnership between the Trust and the Foundation. He offered significant guidance on the Foundation’s expanding research initiatives, including our Citizen Science Program and, most recently, the 2022 State of the Sound research symposium. After dedicating over two decades to education and outreach for the conservation of our local environment, the Foundation is proud to recognize all the work that Dr. Marsh has done for the good of the Sound and our community.
