PRS Field Guide | Marine Invertebrates

Invertebrates refer to animal species that do not have a backbone and are ectothermic (cold-blooded). In our marine environment, this category includes mollusks (e.g. oysters, clams, mussels, scallops), crustaceans (e.g. shrimp, crabs), as well as corals, worms, and more. Marine invertebrates are a susceptible group of species in our watershed because most of them can’t move (or can’t get very far) to get away from pollution.
