PRS Field Guide | Reptiles

Reptiles are a class of vertebrates (have backbones) that includes snakes, lizards, crocodiles, turtles, and tortoises. All reptiles are ectothermic (cold-blooded) and have scales or bony plates covering their body for protection. Most reptile species lay eggs, though some give birth to live young. In the Port Royal Sound watershed, we have reptile species that live on land and some that live in water, including sea turtles and alligators.
